what essential oils worked for you for arthritis?
My dad suffers with severe arthritis, he is waiting on surgery for a hip replacement. I have searched information on essential oils for arthritis and have found tons of information and different combinations. so i want to know what essential oils worked for you? i have just ordered some wintergreen for him to try. all your suggestions are appreciated.
You don't say what kind of arthritis he has. My answer assumes that he has osteoarthritis, the most common kind.
I don't think "essential" oils will work. He can rub on anything and drink whatever concoction but the reality is that the cartilage lining his hip joint is already destroyed and nothing he eats, drinks or applies will change that. Bone is rubbing on bone. If he needs temporary relief his doctor may agree to give a steroid injection to the joint which may help for awhile. They aren't a permanent fix but they can give some relief. Also, if he doesn't already, he should use some kind of walking aid to take the pressure off the affected joint - cane, walker, whatever works best for him. Be sure he uses the cane in the hand on the opposite side from the bad hip. Also, if he hasn't already, he could try NSAIDS (non-steroidals).
I have had severe OA in both hips and now have both of them replaced. That is the only permament fix. Good luck to him. How long does he have to wait for the surgery?.
