How can I get the bonfire-smoke smell out of a scarf that cannot be washed?

I have this nice wool? scarf that says it cant be machine washed, so I hand washed it cold water and layed it to dry in the sun.... I can still smell the smoke- what should I do?

Place the scarf between two pieces of tissue paper, then lay a dryer sheets on tope and fold over, place another set of dryer sheets on fold and place in a zip lock bag. Let sit for a day or two and the smell should dissolve.
