How can I use Glazing Silicone to fit Acrylic Secondary Glazing?
My rebate is quite small (2mm wide but 6mm deep) all round, so I plan to use acrylic sheeting, held in with Glazing Sealant.
1. Is this the best solution?
2. do I have to leave a gap on the 2mm rebate to allow the sealant to penetrate?
3. Is heat loss significantly dependent on thickness - i.e is 4mm significantly better than 3mm or 2mm.
4. I could I suppose fit 6mm thick to fill the depth - Is this a good idea?
5. This is a victorian window so I think magnetic strip and plastic edging is out.

There isn't enough depth at 2mm. Your sheeting must be at least that. Which leaves an option of holding the sheet in with some moulding fixed to the outer face of whatever you are glazing. I would still bed it on the tiniest bead of acrylic glazing putty (Unibond make a good one available from Homebase)
