How long should i let my 23 gallon tank settle before beginning the cycling process?

i will soon be setting up my fresh water aquarium for tropical fish and i wondered if there was a waiting period before beginning to cycle it.

And also PPM is that measured with a pipet/dropper i.e. one drop from the dropper = 1 PPM?

I was planning on having a planted tank but will be adding plants after cycle has finished, therefore i wont be using my lights whilst cycling, my lights are 2x 25 watts T8's. Am i right in doing this?

Thankyou for any answers sorry for all the questions : D
i will be cycling using ammonia. i just wanted to know when to start the cycling process a.k.a. nitrogen cycle.

Your tank doesn't have to sit for any amount of time prior to cycling. Start it up and start the cycle.

PPM (Parts per million) isn't measured with a dropper here. (Unless you want to sit and measure a million drops of water. Are you asking because it says ammonia is ### ppm? If you are asking, no worries if you are addng ammonia and have no fish. The cycle will eventually convert all the ammonia.

If you are asking because you have a master test kit, the kit should have your water lines and XXX drops will equal the ppm.

I would wait until your cycle starts to complete as well before adding plants. Lights on or lights off doesn't matterwith no fish or plants here. Up to you.

Start the cycle as soon as your tank is up and has water.

Droppers - Plastic (pipettes) Set of 12

Plastic Droppers (pipettes)- Larger one is graduated in 1/2 ml increments and draws up to 3ml. Smaller one is not graduated and bulb draws approximately 1ml. Both can easily dispense 1 drop at a time. We recommend using a separate dropper for each essential oil. Note: our 5ml, 10ml, 15ml and 1oz bottles of essential oils include an internal dropper so these plastic droppers are not necessary. But,...
