How to dehydrate a pie crust?
I am going to make a homemade pumpkin pie. The crust is made from pecans, date paste, coconut oil, and maple syrup. After putting the crust together, the instructions say to dehydrate it for 48 hours. I do not have a dehydrator. Is there an alternative way to dehydrate the crust?
That is going to be tough to do an an oven. You are going to need a thermometer. Set your oven as low as it can go. Shoot for 135 degrees and prop the door open if you need to. Expensive in the energy department.
On the alternative, put the crust in a box and put a light bulb in it. Again, shoot for 135 or so degrees. A small fan would help I am sure. In other words, you can make a dehydrator.
Note: At 135 degrees, a guess, it might get done sooner but it will not have cooked. I'm guessing on the temp. Try 115 or even 120 if you like. That might take 4 days 
If you live someplace that is really sunny and hot, dehydrate in the sun.
I would think your objective is to make a crust that will somehow resemble at the very least a not so crisp cracker.
Lastly... if you use the oven, you can't get the temp low enough, and need to god forbid on this recipe, cheat, put it as low as you can and test for doneness. It won't hut to pull it out, let it cool, poke it, bend on it a little etc repeating with heating, until you get to the point of dryness. Your objective is simply to remove moisture but not cook it.
